Revealing the unheard consequences of war.

A poster illustrating the implications of a war to the veterans, specifically raising awareness towards deafness in veterans, which are not highlighted as often compared to other physical disabilities. The combination of the two subjects — war planes and music sheet — gives an interesting juxtaposition and aids in communicating the message in a way that is simple but also attention grabbing.

APPROACH

This poster uses 2D illustration with 3D depth, highlighting the motion of the military jets and the musical notation as tracks. Notably, the broken and distorted musical notation symbolize hearing loss, reinforcing the message in a subtle yet powerful way.

Shadows and curved lines add dimensionality, making the flat elements feel dynamic and immersive. The monochrome palette, combined with a grainy texture enhances the somber tone and ensures the design is both striking and thought-provoking.

DESIGN PROCESS The heart of this poster has always been the juxtaposition of music notes and war planes as 2 seemingly unrelated subjects that come together to form a powerful meaning. Narrowing the focus down to these two subjects and ommitting irrelevant details are the two main points in the development and refinement process.
